Yesterday I delivered a summer garden wonky wedding cake for the wedding of Sarah and Martin Hughes. The room looked fantastic before we set up the main cake and the table centrepieces. It had a fuchsia colour scheme with the summer flowers twist. Showing the room from behind the cake... fuchsia sashes on the chair covers and the three tier cake stands with our delicious cupcakes! Each cake stand had a selection of cupcakes chosen by each guest prior to the day for their wedding breakfast dessert. |

At Cakes by Occasion you can experience and learn the skills needed to make a centrepeice that will make you the envy of your friends.
Each design is based on a colour palate that you choose with the knowledge gained through our instruction. Learn the process of sugar roses, giving life-like petals and romantic curls ready to arrange on your finished cake.

This weekend I have mostly been doing wedding cake consultations.
It's always great to design something that will be so very special to couples on their big day. Each consultation lasts approximately 45 minutes, and gives you a chance to try some our cakes, talk about your wedding and design something that is completely bespoke for you.
When coming along for a consultation it's extremely important to have information relating to your venue, flowers, colour scheme and even your wedding dress. All of these things can then be incorporated into your design making all the details 'marry' together. |

Wow, what a day!!!
Today was the Doncaster Racecourse Wedding Show, and we were there to meet some fantastic brides, grooms and families. We had a great day talking cake, one of my favourite past-times, with many couples planning their 'big day'.
This was our stand;
 All the designs were new ones unveiled at the show, including our vintage cupcake tower complete with vintage china cups and saucers.
On offer were our Belgian chocolate cake and vanilla cake, made with homemade vanilla extract.
We look forward to the many consultations over the next few weeks! |

I'll be showcasing some brand new designs of wedding cakes along with sugar flowers, figures and gorgeous favours. Alongside all of this will be some delicious cake samples to try.... any suggestions of what you'd like to try? |

 Want something that is totally personal to both the bride and groom? These fun novelty cakes reflect the bride's dress and the groom's suit and I would think easy to completely personalised. It would be a definite talking point and memorable with wedding guests to have these as your weddiong cake! J x

Today I have had the delight in delivering a huge wedding cake along with a selection of mini cakes and cupcakes. A challenge in itself having everything ready on time and being set-up within the one hour window between the civil ceremony and the wedding breakfast. Mad! But what I did have was to set-up wedding table centrepieces ready for the wedding breakfast... these were three tier cake stands with a selection of cupcakes and mini cakes for the guests to help themselves to. You can see here how gorgeous they looked. |

Wedding Cakes are a huge part of any wedding day, being a centrepeice that all your guests want to see. Here at Cakes by Occasion we create bespoke wedding cakes that are that little bit special. This wedding cake design has been inspired by the number of brides who want the traditional style tiered wedding cake but like the idea of providing their guests with their own individual cupcake. This is displayed on a three tiered glass cake stand. The mini wedding cake feeds around 20 portions.
